Armor Information and Analysis
Given the recent change in armor to a 100 cap, and the huge amount of discussion that has occurred on the subject, I felt that it might be helpful to provide some standard armor values to allow people to keep a decent perspective when passing judgment on the change. The table below shows the default armor values in each armored location for level 241 equipment.
Code:
Location
On Head 68 65 67 66
On Body 32 31 32 31
About Bod 25 24 25 25
As Shield 6 5 6 5
On Arms 53 50 52 51
On Hands 12 11 12 11
On Legs 53 50 52 51
On Feet 12 11 12 11
On Tail 68 65 67 66
On Wing (x2) 32 31 32 31
Totals, with aura in ()'s
Head 68(77) 65(74) 67(76) 66(75)
Torso 63(72) 60(69) 63(72) 62(71)
Arms 65(74) 61(70) 64(73) 62(71)
Legs 65(74) 61(70) 64(73) 62(71)
Tail 68(77) 65(74) 67(76) 66(75)
Wings 64(73) 62(71) 64(73) 62(71)
I was rather surprised by the fact that with no armor buffs at all, the default armor values + aura left you almost all the way to the armor cap before the change. This is something that was probably taken for granted. After the change, reaching 100 armor from here is not terribly difficult.
Easiest means of gaining armor past here is of course the +armor spell-ups:
Code:
Armor +3 ar
Elemental Shield +5 ar
Force Field +7 ar
Ice Invocation +9 ar
Ooze Invocation +8 ar
Shadow Armor +5 ar
Shield +9 ar
Stone Skin +7 ar
Telekinetic Shield +3 ar
The vast majority of paths will have access to armor, shield, and stone skin in some form, either through the spell or through the use of equipment, resulting in an average of +19-23 armor from spell-ups. From here it is simply a matter of choosing the remaining +5-10 armor that is most convenient for you:
Some +armor items that are unlikely to be included in the list of low-level +armor items that are being tweaked:
Code:
Huruk's Soul +2
Jhepp's Soul +3
Uzbaki Cloak +2
Bracelet of the Elements +3
Gloves of Alchemy +3
The Robot's Control Panel +4
And viola, you should find yourself staring at 100's armor across all slots. Obviously, there are some concerns to be had regarding whether or not you can maintain the armor cap when spelled up with faerie fire and curse, but the system is a work in progress, and for the time being, it is not terribly difficult to keep 100s for the purposes of mob slaying.
